Creating ABetter WorldThru Food

Food is the common unifier that connects us all — to our family, friends and community; to our own culture and to other cultures; to the people who grow our food; and to the Earth.

Our mission is to bring people together around food, creating connection, harmony and healing.

Our COVID-19 Response

We’re exploring the creation of a comprehensive resource directory of the Seattle-King County food system. This FoodDirectory, as we’re calling it, will include up-to-date information that enables anyone working with our food system – including farmers, restaurant owners, government agencies, nonprofits, and more – to understand both the food supply and demand, and effectively connect and distribute resources in order to keep our communities fed during this time of crisis.

Additionally, our FoodPath program provides free online coaching to support individuals and families in cooking affordably, efficiently, and enjoyably while at home and navigating these challenging times.

Our Program Areas

We bring people together around food via three core initiatives.

Community Feasting

Whether through our annual public Thanksgiving Feast or other community feasts throughout the year, we set the table for communities to come together. We use feasting as a vehicle to engender harmony and honor cultures, particularly those of Indigenous communities. These feasts are co-created and celebrated by community groups and community members at-large.

FoodPath Program

We all have a unique journey with cooking and eating. Through our FoodPath program, we provide free, one-on-one coaching on how to cook in meaningful, convenient, and affordable ways – without relying on recipes or fancy ingredients.

Learning how to effectively cook at home – and enjoy the process – has become more valuable than ever as a result of COVID-19. Whether we’re cooking for one or an entire family, we can all enhance the way we feed ourselves.

Reimagining Grocery

Transforming our relationship with food begins long before the kitchen. We’re on a mission to reimagine the conventional grocery store by exploring and developing a new grocery model with no branding and no single-use packaging. This bulk-food model will cut costs for the customer and producer, as well as support sustainable, healthy living.
